Radhika's Diaries

Looking for a humor blog? You've come to the right place!

“I love collecting boxes.”
The only problem is that they come in different shapes and sizes, so I am unable to stack them in an orderly manner on the shelf. So whenever someone opens the cabinet door, one or two boxes invariably spring out like “Jack in the box.” Since I am used to it, I duck and dodge smartly.
But the others are not so lucky. “Owww,” cries out one son in an aggrieved tone as a heart-shaped box takes him neatly on the left side of his head. He’s even more aggrieved when I ignore him and rush over to check if the box is intact! “Your cabinet is an absolute Pandora’s Box,” he mutters, rubbing his head.
“It’s time you thought outside the box, mom” says the other, keeping a wary eye on the shelf.

In my house Dad hoards…..
It’s big business with him. Nothing – BUT NOTHING – is discarded in the house without it first going under his scanner and then put away carefully. It could be just about anything – used cells, screws of different sizes, grocery receipts of over 3 years……
Mom disposes.
She doesn’t like clutter. A thing will be lying around in the house for a couple of years or more and one fine day, mom will get into her cleaning mode. She will prowl around the house armed with a duster and a long cobweb cleaner.

While at it, she’ll decide by some intricate calculations, that something has over-shot it’s store-by-date and out it goes into the pile in the shed behind the house, to await it’s turn with the scrap dealer……

  1. This looks like a very promising deal.
    Congratulations on your second book!
And yes, I’m a hoarder too but my occassional obsession for a clutter free home keeps the hoarding in check

  3. All the best with the second book. I like that it has a comic twist to it. During the trying times that we are going through due to the pandemic, many need to read something light that will blow way their worries away briefly.
