Radhika's Diaries

Looking for a humor blog? You've come to the right place!

You think in order to write a book,
we simply string words together?
Then we can sit back with a glass of wine
and call ourselves an author?

No Sir, first we need an idea,
which can sometimes be faint and fleeting.
We need to catch it and give it shape
before it shrinks and starts retreating.

Whether it’s for me or for Sidney Sheldon,
an idea can come out of the blue.
We could be in bed, in the bus or shower
or sometimes when we’re in the loo!

Before we flush the idea down the drain
we shout ‘Eureka’ and rush out of our bath,
Words and phrases pouring out of our mind,
to give shape to our initial draft.

From draft to book there are several steps
and boy, they can be pretty daunting.
before it becomes the final manuscript,
there’s editing, editing and more editing.

Finally our book is out in the world,
But there’s no time for cheers and high fives,
You see, we need to get up off our ****,
and market that book for the rest of our lives!

We dream, think, talk and walk our book,
sometimes it’s an overdose maybe,
Do bear with us, we’re like a new mother
who never tires of talking of her baby.

Cheers!
