When dreams go up in smoke,
and the glowing spark turns to ash,
a young and promising life
is snuffed out in a flash.
Who is really at fault here
is the billion dollar question.
Boycotts and petitions
are not really a solution.
Before we point a finger
let’s take a good look at ourselves.
WE make an actor a STARΒ
and put him on a pedestal!
24/7 he’s under scrutiny
by the public and the Press.
Maybe we’re partly to blame
for at least some of this mess.
One day we idolise him
and treat him like God,
The next day he’s on the floor
and we ride on him rough shod.
Is’nt acting also a career
like doctor, lawyer and everything else?
An actor is also earning a living
to buy a house or pay his bills!
It’s time to change the equation
and treat all professions equally.
Maybe then we won’t have to mourn
a bright spark snuffed out so cruelly!
Very true, Ma’am. π

Brilliant. I so agree Radhika. We have a thing of painting certain professions as being larger than life. So much idol worship of film stars and cricketers is so not done. What happened is such a cumulative effect of everything.

Absolutely Sonia! Too much hype and hoopla builds false expectations and draws the innocents into the whirlpool.

Very Apt ! It’s just a profession and the larger than life image the idolising should stop.
