Radhika's Diaries

Looking for a humor blog? You've come to the right place!

Myself Kamalamma, from Karnataka.

7 days since India is in lockdown and every morning I am waking up feeling like throat is itching. Then I am worried. Ayyo Rama! Ayyo Krishna! Sore throat is coming or what! Then I am rushing around with salt and hot water and all. Half glass salt water I am gargling, other half I am swallowing. By mistake. Kamalamma is very bad at gargling. :/

Yesterday evening I am sitting in living room watching TV and I am sniffing and wiping my eyes with my sari pallu. The Mister is looking at me suspiciously like research scientist is looking at virus under his microscope.

But it is not symptoms of virus making my eyes and nose to water. Too much difficult situation in full country. So our PM is telling people to stay at home for 21 days – Stay home, stay safe and all.

Abbabba! With our citizens that is big challenge. People are so funny. They will never do what is good for themselves. You tell them go outside, there is Vitamin D, it is good for health and all, they will sit tightly at home and watch TV. But if you tell them there is deadly virus outside, don’t go, stay at home and watch TV, then immediately they will put on chappal and go to full public place like beach and religious place and all!

What to do with such people!

Anyway Kamalamma is doing full planning for lock down. Before I am going out 100 times for this thing and that thing but now nothing. All stopped. Full day at home – clean, cook, eat, repeat.

In between catching up with social media, reading all messages from women. Looks like women are not scared of virus. If one is coming near them they will mostly give it one nice whack with chapathi roller! Women are more scared of the new mantra “Work from home.”

How to manage with all husbands sitting at home full 24 hours? That is million dollar question.

That side Government is giving so many instructions – don’t go out, don’t cough, don’t sneeze…… ! This side husbands are giving more instructions – no watching TV, no talking on phone, no singing in the bathroom! They are working it seems.

Life is suddenly full tension for women!

But Kamalamma is one optimistic woman. Slowly as lockdown days are passing I am seeing one or two nice points in this ‘work from home’ business.

Before all this, by the time sun is coming up in the morning I am cooking 2 items – one for breakfast and one for lunch box. Ohohoho you should see me running and jumping around the kitchen from fridge to stove to sink. Like Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu are running around in badminton court.

Now no lunch box. So little bit relaxed.

But there is another bigger advantage of this WFH thing.

I am now having one extra person at home. For what?

For 2nd opinion on important doubt I am having always while cooking – “How many whistles pressure cooker has given?”

At first when I am asking The Mister this, he is getting nervous, but nowadays he is keeping count and sometimes he is also passing question to his boss on other side of telephone. 3rd umpire vote is very much needed now and then.

Because all women will agree 100% that virus or no virus, our dal should be correctly cooked!

May Udupi Krishna keep everyone safe and healthy.
